Dear Families, This week, I am extremely proud to celebrate the efforts of all our lovely Year 6 children. They undertook their SATS tests calmly and displayed resilience and determination throughout. SATS are an important moment in our children’s primary school education but they are just one moment in time. They do not measure how kind, creative and skilled our children are across many other fields or how fully they have developed since being with us at St John the Baptist. However, we are still extremely impressed at how well they performed and how they handled themselves all this week. Thank you to all the families who supported the children so well. The early morning breakfasts were very well-attended by all and supported by a range of teachers, teaching assistants and office staff from across the school. Thank you to everyone who made these sessions run so smoothly. As the children have been so busy, there will be no homework set this week for year 6 children. I would also like to say thank you to all the other children across the school who changed their timetables and moved through alternative routes around the school so quietly in order to not disturb the examinations. This really displayed the St John the Baptist values of loving your neighbour as yourself. All our children have really proved me very proud this week. I am looking forward to the learning that will come in this final week of term next week. Warm wishes, Ms Toni Mason Please spread the word to friends and neighbours if they have children who are 2 and 3 years-old – applications are now being considered. Apply quickly for 2 year-old and 3 year-old Nursery places if your (or their) child was born between Sept 1st 2020 and 31st Aug 2022. All applications are now easier as they are online and with the new funding outlined by the government more parents can access FREE 2 year old and 3 year old Nursery places. Here is the link to apply. Great news – Hackney Council will be funding the issue of FSM vouchers during the May 2024 Half term holiday The value of the FSM voucher for the May 2024 Half term holiday is £10 per child and this covers the whole of the May half term holiday. The FSM voucher is only for those children who are eligible for benefit related free school meals and children in nursery classes who are either in receipt of the two year old funding or eligible for the Early years pupil premium (EYPP). Please contact us if you have any questions. Just to repeat our message from last week – please be aware there have been a few incidents recently involving phones being snatched from hands in the street. Please be wary and aware, avoiding displaying smart phones.
