Ofsted Report

Explore
Our most recent OFSTED inspection took place in October 2017.

SIAMS

Explore
The London Diocesan Board for Schools is a Christian organisation committed to supporting and nurturing Church of England schools in the London Diocese. They aim to promote an education which is consistent with the Church of England faith. All LDBS schools have a regular inspection that evaluates how distinctive and effective each school is as a church school.

School Policies

Explore
School specific policies may be accessed via the links below. Please also check our Federation Policies for documents that govern all schools within the Primary Advantage Federation.

Pupil Premium

Explore
Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the government to public schools, aimed at supporting disadvantaged children and helping improve their attainment. The funding aims to close the attainment gap between disadvantaged children and their peers and to ensure the pupils reach their full potential regardless of their background. Pupils eligible for pupil premium are those who currently receive or have received free school meals within in the past six years and pupils who have been in care. Each year, the DfE allocates the Pupil Premium funding to the school. Every school decides on how the funding is best spent for their pupils and can be used in a number of ways including staffing, resources, extra curricular activities, educational visits and more.

Sports Premium Funding

Explore
In 2013, the government provided additional funding of £150 million per year to improve the provision of PE & Sport in primary schools. The Sports Premium was introduced for schools to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of physical education being offered. This would develop or add to the PE already in school and ensures sustainability of improvements so that they benefit new pupils in the future as well as current pupils. It was also introduced to encourage the development of healthy, active lifestyles.

Snow and Bad Weather

Explore
All efforts will be made to open the school on all normal school days – even when we have snow and other adverse weather conditions. If the school is not going to open due to either weather or an unforeseen event, a decision will be made by 7.30am and information posted on the school and Local Authority websites. If possible, a text message will also be sent to all families and a notice will be posted on our Twitter account.

Results

Explore
Every year in Key Stages 1 and 2, Year 2 and 6 pupils, by law, have to sit academic SATs tests. The results are published every December for the public to see. Year 1 have to sit a Phonics Screening Test during the Summer term.

Inclusion & Equalities

Explore
We are committed to inclusion and believe that all children have a common entitlement to a broad and balanced curriculum which is accessible to them. A number of children in the course of their school career will experience periods when they have difficulty in keeping up with their peers. Pupils develop at different rates especially in primary education. At St John the Baptist we are committed to identifying and supporting any child in this position under the Special Educational Needs System.

SEND

Explore
The Department for Education (DfE) published a new special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) Code of Practice on 30 July 2014. It came into force from 1 September 2014, replacing the previous 2001 Code. The Code of Practice (2014) covers the 0-25 age range and includes guidance relating to children and young people with a disability as well as those with special educational needs (SEN).
