Many of our children join St John the Baptist in the Nursery, aged three. A place in the Nursery does not guarantee a place in the main school however. We encourage all our families with children in nursery to apply for a place in our Reception. Children meeting the local authority’s entry requirements move on to Reception. As we have two classes in Reception, we do have places for children who do not attend our nursery.

We have an engaging learning environment with oppportunities to learn and develop key skills. Adults expertly support learning.

Nursery children are allocated either part-time (15 hours) or full-time (30 hours) spaces.

All children who are aged 3 and 4 years old receive 15 hours free child care.

Children 3+ years of age with working parents may be entitled to 30 hours of free childcare. To check if you are eligible for the 30 free hours childcare and to apply, please go to www.childcarechoices.gov.uk. There is also information about the different types of services and support available to parents.

All places are term time only places – our term dates can be found here.

3 year olds: All 3 year-olds are entitled to a 15 hours funded place in the term after they turn 3.

We provide milk, snacks and wipes for all places. Lunch is provided for full time places.

Places available are: 

Full time places  – 30 hours per week

    • 8:45-3:30pm Monday to Friday

Part Time places  – 15 hours per week

    • Morning Places: 8:45-11:45am Monday to Friday
    • Afternoon Places 12:30-3:30pm Monday to Friday

Funding Options: 

Both funded and fee paying  places are available

Top up fee option* (a combination place)  – Full time place consisting of 15 hours funded and 15 hours fee paying top up.

*Please note you need to be eligible for funding for this option.
