Dear Families,
As we approach the festive season, the school is buzzing with excitement and activity! Our children have been busy rehearsing their songs and lines for the upcoming Nativities, and it has been such a joy to hear their voices filling the school with the magic of Christmas. We can’t wait to share these special performances with you.
Preparations are also well underway for our Winter Fayre, which promises to be a fantastic event. There will be exciting games, creative craft activities, and delicious food for everyone to enjoy. A huge thank you to the PTA/Friends of SJB for their incredible work so far. There will be a working party meeting next Monday at 8:45 am to discuss plans—all are welcome to join and lend a hand in making this event a memorable one for our school community.
It has been wonderful to connect with so many of you this week at our parent teacher nights to not only celebrate the children’s achievements and but to also discuss how we can continue to work together to support your child’s progress. By collaborating with classroom staff and focusing on your child’s next targets, we can ensure they continue to thrive both academically and personally.
Thank you for your ongoing support and dedication to our school. We look forward to seeing you at the Nativities and at the Winter Fayre on Tuesday 17th December and celebrating the season together.
Warm regards,
Ms Toni Mason
Headteacher
We’re already looking forward to our much-loved Christmas Fayre – a highlight for everyone in our school community! Staff and Friends of SJB (our PTA) are working hard to make this year’s event even better and more affordable for families. To help us achieve this, we’re asking for your support with raffle and tombola prizes. On Friday 6th December, we’ll be holding a non-uniform day, but instead of a cash donation, we kindly ask for a tombola prize. Suggested items include food and drink, toiletries, or household goods (nearly new toys and books are great as well) – but please ensure any food or drink donations are new, unopened, and in date. Some of the best tombola prizes include chocolates, non-alcoholics drinks, gift sets, candles, biscuits, or festive decorations. Thank you for helping us make this event a magical start to the Christmas season!
Thanks to the parents who have already completed the Parent Autumn Survey. It helps us make decisions and to plan. If you haven’t please click thius link and complete – a few questions! It is very quick to complete!
The survey closes Tuesday 3rd December at 4:00pm.
Don’t forget to book for the parents’ Christmas Wreath Workshop – Refreshments, a chat and making a wreath to take home for £11! The workshop will be led by an expierienced wreath maker. Please hurry – we have limited places! Click here to book
Christmas comes but once a year and to celebrate we are organising our Christmas raffle to run alongside our Winter Fayre.
Our PTA have been working hard to secure some wonderful donations for the prizes. Prizes will include an array of lovely hampers, an Echo Dot, Gift Cards from Wagamama and Nandos and vouchers for use in some of our local shops for prizes. We are extremely grateful for all the donations we receive. The prizes will go on display in the foyer as they arrive in. Please keep an eye out for them.
Tickets cost £1 per 5 tickets (a strip) and will be sent home on Monday with each child. Each child will receive £5 of tickets to sell.
If you wish to purchase any and be in with a chance to win some amazing prizes, then please return with the name of your child and their class on the back of each individual ticket and return to the school office in the envelope provided. If you require more tickets, please ask at the school office.
Closing date: All tickets and money to be returned by Monday 16th December. We will draw the raffle on Tuesday 17th December at our Winter Fayre.
Many thanks for your support as always and don’t forget if you have anything you would like to donate for prizes, please bring them to the office.
It was great to see so many parents and carers this morning and this afternoon coming to hear more about It Takes a Village from Tara. Also we say a huge thanks to Tara who has been able to continue to bring donated Pret food to share with all from about 4:45pm. (This happens most Fridays!)
This is a fantastic opportunity for parents to purchase books for their children, just in time for Christmas, as books make wonderful presents that inspire creativity and foster a love of reading.
During the fair, a payment machine will be available at school for parents to make their purchases conveniently. We have ensured that all transactions are straightforward, so you can focus on selecting the perfect titles for your young readers.
On dry days, the Book Fair will be set up outside by the sports pitch at the end of the school day, providing a lovely outdoor atmosphere for parents and children to explore the books together. On wet days, however, don’t worry – we will move the fair to the lunch hall, ensuring that everyone has the chance to browse the exciting selection of books.
To preview what will be available, please visit Scholastic Book Fair. We look forward to seeing you there and celebrating the magic of reading with our school community! Happy reading!
When we have very wet weather children are kept under cover to avoid getting soaked. If it is not raining very hard or if it begins to rain while we are outside we will remain outside for collection.
Please see the above map to know where to collect your child. Thank you
