Dear Families,
I hope you are all well. It has been a wonderful and memorable week at our school, filled with proud moments and community spirit.
We were delighted to receive fantastic feedback from our Hackney School Improvement Partner (who visit all primary schools during the year) during their visit on Thursday. They shared that “Exemplary teaching was seen, with exemplary well-planned lessons and behaviours for learning across the school.” This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff and pupils, and I am extremely proud of everyone.
This week, we also came together for a special Remembrance Day assembly. Our pupils showed great respect as we reflected on the significance of the day and observed a moment of silence to honour those who have served.
In addition, it was wonderful to see so many of you at the Year 6 blazer presentation and prefect award ceremony. Your presence made the occasion even more special for our pupils as they step into their final year at school and into important leadership roles within the school.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Warm regards,
Ms Toni Mason
Again we want to send a message of support to everyone affected by the recent hurricane in Jamaica, especially to those within our school community who have family and loved ones impacted. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
We are working with trusted people who have organised a way to get resources to hospitals, schools and families in need in the southwest of Jamaica. They are going to be sending us back photos showing how our donations have helped! We raised £210 today, which is our most successful collection yet! Thank you all for your generosity.

This week at school, we have been celebrating Anti-Bullying Week. The children have been learning what bullying is, why it is hurtful, and how it can affect our growth, confidence, and wellbeing. We explored the importance of speaking up, supporting one another, and treating everyone with kindness.
Our school vision — “Love your neighbour as yourself” — has helped guide our conversations. The children reflected on how showing kindness, empathy, and respect to others makes our school a happier place where everyone can learn and flourish. We talked about how small acts of kindness can make a big difference to someone’s day and how we all have the right to feel safe and valued at school.
The children also practised ways to respond safely if they see unkind behaviour, and they learned who they can talk to if something worries them. Together, we are working to make St John the Baptist a place where every child knows they belong, every voice is heard, and every person is treated with respect.

Next Friday, 21st November, we are encouraging all children to come to school dressed in spotty clothes to help raise money for Children in Need. Apologies that this event was missed from our original dates list. We look forward to seeing as many homemade spotty tshirts as possible.
If you would like to participate, please wear your own clothes (spotty if possible!) and bring in a coin donation.
Children in Need supports thousands of projects across the UK, providing vital help to young people facing challenges such as poverty, disability, illness, or limited access to safe opportunities. The funds raised go directly towards programmes that improve children’s wellbeing, mental health, and life chances.
Thank you in advance for your generosity and support.
