Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been a busy and very scientific week at SJB as we celebrated Science Week across the school. We began with a special assembly on Monday where children were introduced to this year’s theme ‘Curiosity – what’s your question?’ and reminded about the “Answer Six Questions for Science Week” challenge shared in last week’s newsletter.
Each day, a Science Question of the Day was shared with classes through videos filmed by our fantastic Digital Leaders, sparking lots of discussion and curiosity. Around the playground, children also explored science questions linked to our equipment, such as “How does a football get faster?” and “Why is sand different when it’s wet?”
Teachers also shared fun experiments in class assemblies, some classes joined online workshops, and children enjoyed exploring our very first Curiosity Lab on the roof.
It has been wonderful to see so much curiosity across the school. In assembly, a few of our most inquisitive pupils were awarded our first ever Scientists of Science Week awards. See photos below and enjoy our ‘In the News’ posts this week which celebrates Science in all year groups.

Notice: Raffle tickets are now available for purchase at the front office.
Have a lovely weekend.
Kind regards, Ms Toni Mason

Parents’ Evening Sign-Up
Early next week you will receive an email with a link to sign up for a Parents’ Evening appointment. Appointments will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, so please keep an eye out for the email to secure your preferred time slot.
Highlights from PGL
Last week, our Year 6 pupils visited PGL in Liddington for their residential trip. During the week, they took part in a number of exciting new activities, faced their fears, and challenged themselves in ways they had never experienced before.
The behaviour and teamwork shown by the children was absolutely impeccable throughout the trip. All staff commented on what a pleasure the week was and how proud they were of the pupils’ positive attitudes, resilience and support for one another.

Celebrating our Young Artists
At SJB, we are very lucky to have a skilled Artist in Residence who teaches specialised art lessons across the school. Below are some examples of the fantastic artwork created by our Year 1 and Year 3 pupils. Please enjoy!
