Dear Families, Good luck to year 6 – Next week, year 6 will be completing their SATs tests. Our children have been working really hard and have made fantastic progress this year. We’re so proud of them. They’ve shown great determination and resilience in their learning. We believe they’ll continue to do amazing things. We would like to wish them all the best. It has been so wonderful to see the sun make its return to the skies. Now that the weather is warmer, we are encouraging you to ensure your child has a hat and is wearing sunscreen that is applied before they leave for school each day. Children’s jumpers are invariably removed at different points in the day and so we urge you to ensure their name is clearly marked on the label so should it be missed, it can be returned swiftly. We are also endeavouring to label jumpers which are unamed to help. We are continuing our OPAL journey by beginning work in the area where the old play structure once stood. Over the May half term, the surface is being replaced and we are planning to introduce a mud kitchen. In order for our children to play effectively, we are reaching out to our community for their old pots and pans, utensils, cake tins and wooden or metal spoons for children to use in the mud kitchen. If you have anything you’re looking to get rid of, please do drop it off at one of the buckets at the gates or in to the school office. Our staff and some parents have already kindly started donating – thank you for your support. Have a lovely weekend, Toni Mason The Half Price book fair is back from today until Wednesday 15th May. Books start from as little as £2.99 and there is a fantastic selection for all ages. We are able to take cash or card and will be out on the playground from 3:30pm each day. If your child attends ASC and you’d like your child to visit the fair to browse, please complete this short google form. Your child will then create a wish list and if you would like to purchase, we can organise payment at pick up. Please spread the word to friends and neighbours if they have children who are 2 and 3 years-old – applications are now being considered. Apply quickly for 2 year-old and 3 year-old Nursery places if your (or their) child was born between Sept 1st 2020 and 31st Aug 2022. All applications are now easier as they are online and with the new funding outlined by the government more parents can access FREE 2 year old and 3 year old Nursery places. Here is the link to apply. Great news – Hackney Council will be funding the issue of FSM vouchers during the May 2024 Half term holiday The value of the FSM voucher for the May 2024 Half term holiday is £10 per child and this covers the whole of the May half term holiday. The FSM voucher is only for those children who are eligible for benefit related free school meals and children in nursery classes who are either in receipt of the two year old funding or eligible for the Early years pupil premium (EYPP). Please contact us if you have any questions. Being on time is important as catching up lessons is a challenge. Poor punctuality can lead to your child… There have been a few incidents recently involving phones being snatched from hands in the street. Please be wary and aware, avoiding displaying smart phones.
