Welcome back to the start of Autumn 2! This half term is always one of the most exciting times of the year as we move towards the festive season. There are many wonderful events planned for the coming weeks, which you can find listed on the dates poster below.
We’ll be starting the term by marking Anti-Bullying Week on Monday, when we’re inviting all children to come to school wearing odd socks. This simple act is a great way to celebrate what makes us all unique and to promote kindness and respect for others.
I would also like to take a moment to send a heartfelt message of support to everyone affected by the recent earthquake in Jamaica, especially to those within our school community who have family and loved ones impacted. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. To show our support and raise funds for those affected, we will be holding a non-uniform day on Friday. Children are invited to wear their own clothes and bring a financial donation of any amount they are able to contribute and put in the buckets on the gate.

Next week, all classes will be taking part in Anti-Bullying sessions as part of Anti‑Bullying Week. Children will have the chance to explore what bullying looks like, how to respond safely, and how we can all play our part in making St John the Baptist a place where everyone feels valued and respected.
On Monday, we’re launching the week with Odd Socks Day, when children are invited to wear odd or mismatched socks. This fun and simple action is a brilliant symbol of individuality and a reminder that everyone is different — and that’s something to celebrate.
We look forward to an engaging week of learning, kindness and community spirit.
We are aware of a growing trend online known as “brainrot” content, which often appears on social media platforms such as TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram. While some of this content may seem harmless, much of it includes inappropriate language, violent imagery or harmful attitudes that are not suitable for children. We encourage parents and carers to monitor their child’s online activity and talk to them about what they watch, helping them make positive and age-appropriate choices online.
