Dear Families, Welcome back for the final half-term of the school academic year. I hope you had a restful and enjoyable break and your children are refreshed and ready to learn. This term is jam-packed full of exciting events for our children and families which are a wonderful way to celebrate everything we have all achieved this year. Please see the list of key dates on this newsletter to make sure you don’t miss anything. Despite these exciting events interwoven throughout the next few weeks, this is still a full term of learning. This term, teachers will be focusing on consolidating the knowledge and skills that are essential foundations for successful transitions to new year groups. Therefore, it is very important that your children attend school every day and are punctual. I look forward to seeing many of you over the next few weeks. Best wishes, Toni Mason We are delighted that CBeebies TV presenter, Joanna Adeyinka-Burford, will be joining us for a special assembly on the revised date of Wednesday 26th June. Joanna has written an exciting faith-based children’s book, titled ‘What’s Up: 30 encouragements to fuel your faith’. The book was published in February, so we will be amongst the first to hear about it. The book is filled with stories from Joanna’s life: she covers topics such as friendship, navigating anger, finding your identity, grief and the power of words. The book also includes bible verses, prayers, spaces to reflect, fun facts and games! If you would like to pre-order a signed copy of the book, please complete the linked google form. Otherwise, Joanna will be in our playground where you can meet her and potentially buy the book from her then. The cost is £9.99. See you there! This will be the day most weeks. Some classes have split PE sessions (over 2 days) and some weeks due to events, visits or special occasions the day may change. We will inform you via Marvellous Me if there are changes. Reception: Wednesday (swimming); Thursday & Friday (Short PE Sessions) Year 1: Monday – Oak & Palm; Wednesday – Y1 Oak Year 2: Tuesday – Cherry & Holly; Friday – Cherry Year 3: Wednesday (Swimming) Year 4: Monday – Elm ; Thursday – Elm & Maple Year 5: Friday – Chestnut & Willow Year 6: Wednesday – Plum ; Friday – Hazel; Tuesday – Plum & Hazel You may have noticed the new surfacing on the site of the old play structure has been completed during the May half term. The space looks transformed and has become home to many of our mud kitchens. It’s so wonderful the see the children use their imaginations and create potions, pancakes and much more in their play. Thank you so much to all the families who have already donated old pots and pans, spoons and cake tins. If you have any old kitchen equipment our children could use in the mud kitchens, please do bring it in. From Monday, colourful buckets will be on all gates for you to drop off any resources. We thank you for your generosity. It has been lovely to share with parents at various coffee mornings that Katy Dean from the front office has been appointed as the SEND Co assistant. She will continue to be in the office and through the day also be working as SEND Co assistant. As part of her role she organises the Annual reviews for children who have an EHCP as well as coordinate the many professionals who we access to help our children. Please do ask her questions about SEND . We have advertised and are appointing a new SEND Co for September at the moment but in the meantime Maya Dowling is joining us to help out until then. She has already started so please do watch out for her on the gates to say hello. Please spread the word to friends and neighbours if they have children who are 2 and 3 years-old – applications are now being considered. Apply quickly for 2 year-old and 3 year-old Nursery places if your (or their) child was born between Sept 1st 2020 and 31st Aug 2022. All applications are now easier as they are online and with the new funding outlined by the government more parents can access FREE 2 year old and 3 year old Nursery places. Here is the link to apply.
