Dear Parents and Carers,
A big thank you to everyone who joined us for our Open Morning on Tuesday. It was a pleasure to welcome so many families into school and give you the opportunity to see our classrooms and learning in action. We are also very grateful for the lovely comments shared on the questionnaires, as well as the helpful suggestions for future open days. Your feedback is always appreciated and helps us continue to improve these events.
Yesterday we also celebrated World Book Day, and it was wonderful to see so many fantastic costumes across the school. The children clearly put a lot of thought and creativity into their outfits, and the excitement around reading was lovely to see. One of the highlights of the day was the visit from our Secret Readers, who surprised each class with a special story. The children absolutely loved these mystery visitors, and it was a great way to celebrate the joy of reading together.
It was also lovely to celebrate International Women’s Day with a delightful breakfast. Please see below for more information.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Kind regards,
Ms Toni Mason

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who brought in old clothing, shoes, bags and jewellery for our recent Little Recyclers drop-off.
Our Eco-Warriors are excited to announce that we gathered more than we could have hoped for, with donations weighing an incredible 211kg! Not only have these items been saved from landfill, but the collection has also raised an amazing £94.95 for our school.
Our fantastic Eco-Warriors also worked incredibly hard helping to pack up the van with all of the recycled items, making sure everything was ready to be collected. They showed brilliant teamwork and real dedication to caring for our environment (see photos below).
Thank you to our Friends of St John the Baptist team for inititing this project and to everyone else for supporting our efforts to care for the environment while helping to raise valuable funds. We are so proud of our school community for coming together to make a difference.

Today is International Women’s Day, which was first celebrated in 1911 and was created to recognise the achievements of women and to promote equality and women’s rights around the world.
To mark the occasion, Friends of St John the Baptist organised a special breakfast for parents and carers who wished to attend. It was a lovely event and a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together and celebrate.

Next week, we are excited to be celebrating Science Week in school! This year’s theme is “Curiosity: What’s Your Question?”
As part of Science Week, each child will receive a sheet (like the one pictured below) where they will answer six science questions that they are curious about. Each morning we will release a “Curious Question of the Day.” There will also be questions displayed around the playground that children might choose to investigate. Alternatively, they might come up with a question of their own, or explore something you discuss together at home.
On the sheet, children will record their six chosen questions and their answers. If they prefer, they may present their thinking in another way, such as with a diagram, labelled drawing, or another creative explanation of the science.
At the end of the week, each class will award a Scientist of the Week in our celebration assembly, and there will be plenty of stickers for children who take part.
Please enjoy some scientific discussions at home and encourage your child to stay curious and keep asking questions!
