Dear St John the Baptist Families, We are thrilled that all of our families can say their child attends an outstanding school. Our latest report has been published which you can access here. Back-to-back Ofsted outstanding judgements in October 2017 and now in November 2023 show that our school gives around 300 pupils every year the best possible start to learning and readiness for their next school. Our inspection was thorough, rigorous, and fair. Leaders and other staff felt listened to, had the quality of our work validated, and were energised from their work with Ofsted’s inspector. Many children were spoken to and shared their impressions and experiences at St John the Baptist. Well done to everyone – our SJB community is wonderful. This week we enjoyed another amazing Nativity from our youngest children, they were fabulous. We also enjoyed a Christmas lunch full of festive cheer and our School Christmas Church Service. Please see below for some lovely photos. From all of us at St John the Baptist we wish you and your families a wonderful Christmas break and a happy New Year. Please stay safe and warm and we look forward to seeing you all in the new year. Merry Christmas and Happy New year. Best wishes, Toni Mason We raised money for the worthwhile charity Children in Need by wearing Christmas jumpers. We talked about how we have helped some children who really needed it. The festive cheer was all around during our lunch; we had festive crowns, Christmas jumpers and songs and a yummy dinner. Christmas crackers were much fun. From 2 January 2024, eligible working parents can apply for 15 hours of childcare for their two-year-old. Parents have until 31 March 2024 to apply for a code, with mid-January to the end of February being the optimum time to apply in case they need to provide further information to support their application. To apply for a childcare code each parent needs to be working and earning the equivalent of 16 hours a week at national minimum/living wage and under £100,000 adjusted net income per year. This means that each parent needs to earn from just over £8,600 per year to be eligible for 15 hours a week of childcare during term time. There is more information on the childcare support available to parents on the Childcare Choices website, where they can explore the early education entitlements and other government help with childcare costs. We have sent out the new important dates for Spring term 2024. You can also find these on our website. Click here! If your child is aged 3 and 4 (born between 1 September 2019 and 31 August 2020) they will be eligible to start reception class at primary school in September 2024.
