Dear SJB Families,
As we come to the end of the term, it truly has been a time full of the joys of spring here at school.
This week, in particular, has been full of Easter celebrations. On Wednesday, we held our annual Easter Egg Hunt across the school playground and church grounds. A huge thank you to April for organising the event, and to Doreen and the wonderful volunteers from Friends of St John the Baptist for setting it all up so beautifully. The children absolutely loved it, and our Year 6 pupils even commented that it was more challenging than last year! Despite this, we are delighted to say that every class found enough eggs to fill their trays and win real chocolate treats for their classes.
We have also enjoyed a visit from the Easter Bunny, who brought lots of smiles to classrooms across the school. Today, it was fantastic to see so many of you at our Easter Bonnet Parade. What a creative and colourful celebration it was! Thank you to all the families who made hats at the workshop and at home. The designs were fabulous.
It was also a pleasure to meet with so many of you at Parents’ Evening on Tuesday and to hear such positive feedback. Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete our surveys; your views are invaluable in helping us recognise what we are doing well and in guiding us as we continue to improve our practice.
Wishing you all a wonderful, safe, and happy Easter break. We look forward to welcoming you back on Monday 13th April.
Kind regards,
Toni Mason

We would like to say a very big thank you to everyone who took part in our recent logo vote poll. We really appreciate the time you took to share your opinions and help us make this important decision.
We are pleased to announce that the winning design was Option 4 – featuring uniform colours of white, red, and blue. As you can see from the results, it won by a large majority, showing clear support across our community.
Thanks to parent feedback this week we can confirm that the new logo will begin to appear one future deliveries of uniforms. However, there is absolutely no expectation for families to replace existing uniform items. Current uniforms can continue to be worn as normal, and the new logo will be introduced gradually over time as items are naturally replaced.
Thank you once again for your support and involvement.

This year, we were excited to launch a new Leadership Group for Year 5 and 6 pupils, supported by Hackney Citizens. We wanted to share and celebrate some of the initiatives that this group has got involved with just this last half term…
Pupils have met weekly with Mary (from Hackney Citizens) to learn about leadership and power, and have chosen to support the campaign to make Hackney a Living Wage Borough. They explored this further through a visit to the Young V&A, where they interviewed staff.
They are now working with Sarah Hunter to create a protest song to perform for the Hackney Citizens Assembly on 21st April at 5:30pm here at school. All our families are welcome to attend, and both mayoral candidates will be present to answer your questions.
Yesterday, the group also enjoyed a guided tour of Hackney Town Hall by a current councillor, seeing where local decisions are made and how.
We are very proud of their enthusiasm and growing leadership skills. Please enjoy the photos below…

It was fun to escape class and go on an Easter egg hunt in the church playground even if the weather wasn’t feeling too Spring-like today. Have a lovely Easter break, everyone!...
