St John the Baptist is governed by Hackney’s admission procedures. A copy of the admission form for Reception is available on the Hackney Education website.

The Hackney Education website are responsible for setting the admission arrangements for all schools for which they are the Admission Authority – that is, community and voluntary controlled schools in the borough.
For voluntary-aided schools, academies, foundation schools or free schools each school governing body or Academy Trust is their own admission authority.
Reception Class September 2024
If your child was born between 1 September 2019 and 31 August 2020, they are due to start primary school in September 2024.

Reception Class from September 2023
If your child was born between 1 September 2018 and 31 August 2019, they were due to start primary school in September 2023.
Although that date has passed you can still apply for an in year transfer place, please click this link to visit the Hackney Education website.
From time to time, we also have vacancies in other year groups. To apply for a place for one of our Years 1 to 6 classes, parents need to go to the Hackney Learning Trust to fill out a mid-term transfer form. We encourage visits to the school for prospective families. If you would like to arrange a visit to see the school, please call the school office on 0207 739 4902 you can also register your interest here (click link) and we will call you to arrange a time for a tour.
