Dear Parents and Carers,
We began this week with a meaningful day dedicated to recognising the importance of Windrush. All our children took part in class activities designed to deepen their understanding of this significant moment in history. It was wonderful to see their engagement and curiosity as they learnt more about the contributions and experiences of the Windrush generation.
As always, it has been a busy week at school! We apologise for the recent postponing of Sports Day (years 2-6) due to the rain. However, we are pleased to announce that it has been rescheduled for the morning of Thursday 3rd July at Shoreditch Park. We hope to see as many of you there as possible to cheer on the children and enjoy this special event together.
In addition, due to the forecast of very high temperatures reaching up to 33 degrees, we have made the difficult decision to cancel Year 1 and Reception Sports Day scheduled for this Monday. The health and wellbeing of our children is our top priority, and we appreciate your understanding. We will share the new date as soon as possible.
Looking ahead, preparations for our Summer Fete are already underway! We warmly invite all parents and carers to join our Friends of St John the Baptist meeting at 3:00 pm on Wednesday. This is a great opportunity to share your ideas and get involved in making this event a success.
As a timely reminder please note that all school events are alcohol free.
Thank you for your continued support.
Warm regards,
Ms Toni Mason
We know that many families like to stock up on school uniform over the summer holidays ready for the new school year.
The following retailers are offering discounts on school uniform:
We will let you know if we hear of any other good offers.
Several parents and carers have raised concerns about people smoking and vaping near the school gates. The smoke not only creates an unpleasant environment for others gathering at drop-off and pick-up times, but it can also waft into the school grounds, affecting the air quality around children. If you do smoke or vape, we kindly ask that you cross the road to do so, ensuring it is well away from the school area. Thank you for helping us keep the school environment cleaner and more comfortable for everyone.

Rowan really loved food tec, we learnt about different seasonal fruit and vegetables. They then created their own seasonal picnic. They chopped, mixed, spread different ingredients. We sat outside and had a picnic. Yummy!!...
This week in Cherry, we took our hedgehog drawings to the next level by turning them into clay creations! It was so fun bringing our designs to life and getting creative with different details....
Chestnut have been designing and making birdhouses using cardboard and tools from Makedo. They had to measure out their designs, cut carefully along scored lines and then assemble using glue guns. Great fun!...
On Thursday, three of our staff members were recognised at Hackney town hall for 25+ years of service. Congratulations to Gill, Linda and Sandra. Thank you for the commitments and support of our school for so many years!...
In this hot weather we loved splashing in water and cooling down!...
We have watches to help us learn how to tell the time!...
