Dear Parents and Carers,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for a fantastic start to 2025. The children settled back into class brilliantly, and it’s wonderful to see them making great progress in their learning. From pizza making to ukulelels, from screen printing to physics – it has been a busy half term.
We also have cause for celebration—our attendance rate has improved from last year and is now just under 96%! This means that children are missing fewer lessons and benefiting from more consistent learning, helping to close any gaps in their education. Thank you for your support in ensuring good attendance.
Looking ahead to next half term, we have lots of exciting lessons planned, along with special events including World Book Day, Comic Relief Red Nose Day, and our Easter celebrations. We look forward to sharing these memorable moments with the children.
Wishing you all a restful break, and we look forward to seeing you next half term!
Warm regards,
Ms Toni Mason
World Book Day is just around the corner, and we’re excited to celebrate reading with our school community! After our last meeting with the Friends of St John the Baptist (FOSJB), it was decided that children can either dress up in their favourite book costume or come in comfy pyjamas ready to read. To make costume choices even easier, the FOSJB will be hosting a second-hand costume sale (see poster below). If your child has outgrown any costumes, please bring them to the front office to sell for a great price and help others find their perfect outfit! On the day, in addition to fun activities at school, there will also be bundles of books available for sale in the playground. All money raised from book-related sales will go directly towards upgrading our school library. Happy reading!

Hopefully we will have so many volunteers we will need to share out the opportunities. Thanks for signing up to help in advance.

We wanted to give you a quick heads-up that we have had a message from Brigade that uniform costs will be increasing from March 1st. There hasn’t been an increase for 2 years. While we are still awaiting the new pricing details, we recommend purchasing any needed items now to avoid the upcoming increase. Click the picture below for the uniform website.
We send out letters and messages to parents via our Marvellous Me App and via email. Please do check your e-mail inboxes regularly. Any issues or if you need help please ask for support at the school office.
Based on parental feedback we are going to be continuing to send out key dates for the half term to help with all families and their planning. Please watch out for this in the coming weeks.
Thanks also for the great feedback and ideas for our E-Newsletters. Please let us know if you have any ideas on items we can include.
We have a new Lost Property collection point. For children in years 1-6 there is a container at the blue gates at the end of every day. The container will be moved to the front office from 3:45pm for children attending after school activities. A reminder to all families – please make sure your child’s items are labelled – if items are labelled we can find the owners of items quickly and there won’t be a need to look in Lost Property.
